Welcome to UNO Chi Alpha!
Chi Alpha (XA) Christian Campus Ministry at the University of Nebraska Omaha is a movement of college students dedicated to following Jesus, discipling each other, making lifelong friendships, and changing the world. We are a collection of students from the University of Nebraska Omaha and surrounding universities who have one basic thing in common: a passion to experience God and develop a deeper relationship with Him!
What does CHI ALPHA stand for?
The name Chi Alpha (XA) comes from the greek words christou apostoloi (Christ’s sent ones) and our missions stems from 2 Corinthians 5:20:
“We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making His appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God.” – ESV
Even though our name is Greek, we are not a fraternity or sorority. We believe that God desires to have every person be reconciled to Himself, and the way that happens is through relationship with Jesus Christ and the representation of His people. We believe that when a person becomes a Christian, he or she becomes Christ’s ambassador, or Christ’s sent ones (christou apostoloi), which we shorten to the first letters “Chi” and “Alpha”, or XA. Our name is a constant reminder that each of us has a real part to play in this world.
